About Me
Dr Karmela Palma is an award-winning organisational excellence leader committed to mentoring. Over 17 years across the GCC, wider Middle East, and Asia, she has paired senior strategy roles with hands-on work developing women and young professionals. She led the Qatar Professional Women's Network Mentoring Programme and chaired the network (2022 to 2024). In 2023 she co-founded IAM Filipina, a women's empowerment and mentoring community supporting expatriate and diaspora women in career progression and visibility. In 2025 she founded the International Women Mentoring Institute. She also serves as faculty and speaker across Asia and the Gulf. Her doctoral dissertation examined the outcomes of mentoring programmes on the empowerment and career development of Filipina expatriates, earning the Abbot's Medal for Outstanding Dissertation in 2024. From it she developed a competency framework for mentoring women. She holds ILM Coaching and Mentoring, is a certified Organisational Development Coach, and belongs to the Association of Business Mentors, ICF and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. Her work earned the Stevie Award for Women in Business, Coach and Mentor of the Year (Silver, 2025), the Global Women of Influence Award (2025), and the QPWN Appreciation Award (2024).
