About Me
I bring over 29 years of experience as an international Chief Financial Officer, shaped by the values instilled in me by my amazing parents in a tight-knit Indian family. Growing up as the youngest of five daughters, I learned the importance of education, self-determination, honesty, equality, inclusion, and striving for excellence. These values have been the cornerstone of my career, guiding my decisions with authenticity and an internal locus of control. My achievements include being recognized in the 2018 Forbes list of the Top 100 Most Influential Women and ranking 3rd in the 2019 Top 10 Most Impactful Indian CFOs in the Middle East. Throughout my career, I have often been the only woman in Top Management teams, Committees, or Boards, which I viewed as an opportunity to excel rather than be deterred. In my most recent executive role as Chief Financial Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holding (MAF), with revenue over USD 9+ billion and assets over USD16+ billion, I orchestrated financial strategies and risk management across 15 international markets. I joined MAF as a Deputy Treasurer and advanced to the position of CFO. During my tenure, I co-led the transformation of the company’s financing strategy, shifting us from reliance on regional banks to securing diversified funding sources including international public markets and also implemented holistic financial risk management strategies. Today, MAF is the highest-rated private entity and one of the most sought-after bond issuers in the region. I also played a key role in transforming the Holding company structure, formalizing business performance and capital allocation across operating companies. During this period, I gained significant exposure to world-class corporate governance by serving on Boards with renowned independent non-executive directors. Prior to that, I accumulated 16 years of finance leadership experience at Procter & Gamble (P&G), with assignments across India, Japan, Belgium, and the USA. Starting at P&G as a Financial Analyst after earning my MBA, I undertook a series of enriching business finance roles in product supply, business and operations management, strategic planning, and M&A on an accelerated career path. This culminated in my role as Head of Capital Markets, where I managed USD 35 billion of the company’s debt, associated interest rate risks, and share repurchase program. My expertise encompasses strategy planning, P&L delivery, treasury, capital markets, fundraising, resource allocation, investments, financial analysis, corporate restructuring, governance, risk management, compliance, and career coaching, learning, and development. I have served on boards and audit and risk committees, accumulating extensive corporate governance experience.I hold an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, a B.E. in Electronics and Power Engineering from NIT Nagpur, and a CFA charter. I describe myself as 'imperfect but complete' and believe that true fulfillment comes from striving to achieve one's highest potential. Currently, I work as an independent Consultant/Advisor, mentor professionals, and volunteer as a teacher. In my leisure time, I constantly seek new knowledge and experiences through traveling, trekking, and acquiring new skills. This passion for learning drives both my personal and professional life.
